Hello everyone, Im at the near end of restoring my 50 Chevy 1ton and last night I was installing the key lock to the passenger door, and couldnt even budge the locking mechanisim on the latch without twisting the key off. Its a brand new latch too, Ill take it apart tonight and look at it. Has anyone else had a similar problem or a quick fix for this?

Are you using the original latch? They can get very dirty and weather beaten due to their location. I would suggest cleaning the latch mechanism if you have not done so. I would guess the lock mechanism was rarely used on many of these trucks.

I am having the exact same problem with a new latch I bought for my '51 from JC. I gave up and reworked the old latch and installed and it works fine now.

I was having the same issue with the brand new drivers side as well. Well when I thought I fixed it, it ended up busting apart
