Thinking about updating the old Rochester and wondered if anyone has this carb? I have a failry stock 235 in the 59. Now I know a modern carb will be newer and I would hope an improvement but just wondered what others thought of this setup before I run out and buy it as it isnt cheap. Does it offer power or fuel gain or just be a less leaky hopefully issue free set up? I drive in town and freeway often if that helps.

Just a quick note. The 32/36 that Tom sells is a Weber DGEV (according to the catalog). Its a bigger carb than the Carter-Weber that he also sells.
Tom no longer sells the Holley-Weber which was similar in size to the Weber DGEV.

And please bare with me as I'm learning about all e carb options that this new carter would be an improvement over my current set up? Or should I hunt down a holley-weber if its a nicer carb if I'm able. Just don't feel I want to go with dual carbs so I'm trying to figure out the best option on a single. It seems easy till you look and goodness on these 235's everyone has a different thought on the carb! Lol. Been on for 5 yrs. never a problem, gets good milage just a little flat in midrange. I have a cam from howards (m4f) and fenton headers.

| | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 1,424 ODSS President | | ODSS President Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 1,424 | I had one H-W on a daily driver only vehicle (from Tom) and it ran great, started to leak after about 7 years and I peeled off one C-W that I had mounted on a dual intake to replace. Ran great. Proceeded to then go with a dual C-W set up runs great.
The single H-W only needed a gasket set, probably 10% alcohol related fuel as the culprit, but with my dd I did the easy thing and wanted to see how the single C-W ran.
