Okay Deve, it's an OCD thing, I get it.

Since I assume your perfectly restored truck will never see salt or severe weather again, isn't it kind of a moot point? That's just my opinion, I guess. I've never had issues with steel fasteners, and they leave lots of coin in my pocket.

"I am installing new U bolts on the leaf springs of my '53 half ton. Are there tourque specs. for these? "
He asked about torque specs and he got them.

"Also are the backing plates interchangeable, left or right?"
It looks he did not get an answer for this one.

It's been a long time since I ran out of fingers to count the "restorers" around here who make "improvements" and still consider their project a restoration. That being said the first rule of overkill is that there's no such thing as too much overkill.

..... I'd just like to say to all you guys that I appreciate your comments and opinions and learn a lot here and I'm speaking for myself here. I don't need to be preached at, because I choose to be different, even after things have been "explained".
In the end, I take the opinions, experiences and suggestions of everyone into consideration. Then since its MY truck, I make MY decisions and then do it MY way whether it's stainless, grade 8 or 5 or the old rusty bolts and nuts.
Bart, you've been around a while. I appreciate your comments and your knowledge. I Even chuckle at what you say on occasions but
call it OCD or CDO or whatever you wants to call it. I call it doing it the way "I" want to.... and you can do the same. Whether you know it or not, and you may not, you come across as being the final authority on some things. I simply wish you'd just talk TO me (us?) and not AT me.(us?)

I know a few of you have it in for me as is evidenced by my post being deleted by Cletis just before Tim answered it. I have complained to management but he is defended no matter what. What ever I say is my opinion based on what I think I know and I usually try to back it up and I do get some who agree with me. I will try to sugar coat it a little if I can. If you can give an example of talking AT instead of TO I would appreciate it and learn. If this post is not deleted or edited, I look forward to your response. I always copy my posts so I can remember what I said after they are deleted. My humor is not understood by all and I think it ads to a wrong feeling towards me. I have told several on here by PM that I don't fit in but like to learn and participate. Usually when I'm right and have proof, is when I make some very angry. I don't give up if I think I'm right and I always respond to being flamed. Hope this stays here so that everyone who dislikes me can read my feelings. BTW: I have a Tech article in Classic Trucks Magazine, Feb 2014 and have donated some of the proceeds to Stovebolt as a thank you to all here who have helped me along the way.
P.S. If all could have read what I posted before Tim, you could see my frustration, There was nothing about it that was provocative unless you are empty inside and have no humor left and want this Forum to be a séance. I simply was saying we all forgot about poor Twheelock, the orig poster, as we went forward.

Its all good. We all have a lot to contribute. I do not always succeed because sometimes you just cant disguise STUPID, but I like to treat everyone as if they were right in front of me. So when I see your beat up old vintage truck with the nicely torqued U-Bolts, I will say something like.. NICE TRUCK how does she drive? Not something like.. What a dumass, he still uses steel U-Bolts. I hope you understand what I am trying to get across here.. and try to let go of the differences and embrace the very likely gain in knowledge to be found here?
