I am pulling the rear leaf springs on my pickup to clean and add spring liners. The rear shackle came loose easily enough as did the u-bolts. The problem is the floating pin at the front of the rear spring won't come out. I removed the locking bolt and the floating pin slides back and forth but contacts the frame on the inside and the running board on the outside. Am I missing something or do I need to remove the running board to get the pin out? | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Yes, on a '56 the running board must be removed. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 217 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 217 | I guess this is why someone modified the spring attachment on my '55?
