Isn't that the resistor for the heater fan motor. I thought those were mounted inside the ducting which cooled them when running the fan motor at one of the low speeds. This is just a guess..would this be too old for a Chevrolet dealer to order.

I'm not familiar with these rigs, but I think the resistor is for the fan motor. The other items in the picture on the site you linked are probably associated with the A/C. The poor old resistor just happened to be in the picture because that's where it lives, it's an innocent bystander.
Red58 is an expert on these trucks, maybe he will see this and shed some light on it.

However vehicles without AC have the same type of resister block for fan speed control.
Think of it as a interior circulation fan speed control device and vent, heat or AC all use it.
