My name is Ron, I live in northern Ca. I just picked up a 1950 GMC 1/2 ton 5 window. I plan on doing a street rod out of it. I will be doing a frame off, and adding corvette suspension. Not sure of the motor yet. I have a 383 stroker sitting in the garage, but was also thinking modern fuel injected motor. I will be using a 700r4 tranny. My first question is Who has the best quality replacement body panels? There are so many companies selling parts for these trucks. I just want to get feed back on who is good, and who to stay away from.

If you can be more specific about what panels you need, I can help steer you in the right direction for some of them. I have replaced just about every panel offered on one truck and several on another.

I need a complete bed, front fenders, and new floor pans. The seat riser is good, just need the panels from the seat riser to the cowl. The cab is in pretty good shape everywhere else. Just has some holes where your feet would be. The front fenders may be fixable. No rust just some creases. I know the bed and fenders are bolt on and can be tweaked to get the best alignment. I just want to have heavy gauge panels, that are going to look as close to original as possible.

See their products at Mar-k.com | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,270 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,270 | I bought my floor panels from Classicparts and they were a nice fit. Check the condition of the pinch weld where the floor meets the toe board. You may want to remove the floor board before you order to check it closely. They sell a floor board with a section of the toe board attached. The only problem with the combination piece is that it won't be factory correct due to elimination of the pinch weld area.
