For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 36 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 36 | Hello I have a 1941 1/2 ton pickup with a 1940 216 engine and 4 speed trans. My 40 block has a 3 inch freeze crack that seeps antifreeze. A friend of mine has a 1946 engine with the bell housing, flywheel, Clutch, head and oil pan on it. He said the water pump and rocker assembly is missing on his. I haven't seen the engine yet and he's not sure if its a 216 or a 235 block. My question is is it possible to swap out the two engines and still use the original 4 speed trans? If the other engine is a 235 will that go in my 41 with the 4 speed trans? Here is a picture of the 40 engine I removed from my truck. http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/...c-4a00-b529-2694492b2448_zpsa6be24c2.jpgThanks for the help guys! If not just use your bellhousing.
It makes little difference if it is a 216 or a 235. Later 235's are not drilled for the front mount, and 1955-62 engines will need water pump adaptions. 1960-62 engines dropped the throttle pivot position needed. All easy fixes.
