Need some help. i recently got my Granddads '54 chevy 3600. it was a stake bed but the bed was trash and he restored cab and frame and too all of the family saddness he passed before he finished. I need to find a stake bed or a sorce for after market bed. Anyone have any tips for me? I really dont want to put a pick-up bed. Thanks for any help you may have.

By the way, the C designation wasn't used until the '60s. Your truck is a 3600.

It does not have any bed on it right now. It has the tail lights setup for a stake bed. But my dad thought it should have a metal bed. Is there a way I can confirm this? He got the truck at auction mostly restored.
I found him rear 54 fenders a few years back and got them for him. The running board does run all the way to the front of the rear tires. I know trying to find the steel sides of a 54 bed are very hard from what I have read.
I am just trying to figure out how the truck came from the dealer.

These parts are available from vendors as reproductions so not rare and not cheap when sourced that way. If you are looking for good originals that may be where the hard to find kicks in. Put an ad in the Swap Meet section for originals or check the Craig's List in your area.
