Am finishing up the replacement of my wife's 36 chevy trucks door post with metal. A guy here in town has a computer connected to a metal cutting machine. He copied the four sides of the wooden post that was taken out and we welded them together. It matched the curve of the cowl, the angled outside piece and the notches for the hinges. Fit like a glove and am currently deciding whether to tack weld the sheet metal where the copper tacks were or put pop rivets in them. The other post was gone and he mirror imaged it perfectly. Any body interested since he has the dimensions in his machine still. Mine is a high cab so should be like the 34/35 too? Allen

thanks for posting that. I'm sure there are others out there that need to know this..... including a local friend of mine who has a 36 but I can't get in touch with him right now. Maybe in a week or so.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

I'll tell the guy to keep it in the computer. I have no idea how much he would charge for the post. They sure are working for me. The door hinges are adjustable and everything. Even the spare tire brace fits right against the post. Allen 601-898-4718

Thank you. I got in touch with my friend today and he will call the number you left me. I suspect it will be first of next week. His name is Wayne.

Tell him to call. If I am gone, he can talk to my wife, Lana; it's her truck so she knows about it. I will call him back if we miss. Allen

talked to him last night. Good conversation. His truck is a low cab and these are for a high cab. He said he had an LS-3 he planned to put in a 57 truck. That is easier to do than most people realize and should get him down the block with good mileage to boot. My wife's 36 high cab has an LS-1 in it and really works fine. Some people in Mississippi still looking for their doors. Allen

Glad you chatted Allen. Wayne is a gearhead if there ever was one. I see him at the cruise-ins and shows. I told him he may as well join up with us..... maybe he's scared of putters?
Thanks for responding.

Lots of folks are but they aren't hard to understand once you get over the initial understanding of them. If you buy a wiring harness from a reliable source and disable the theft system they are no problem. The people you get the wiring harness will flash the computer for you to get rid of the things you don't need.
