Hy Steve's 54, welcome, have you checked the tie rod ends, drag link ends and kingpins for wear? If that stuff is okay then maybe your steering box needs an adjustment/overhaul, hope that helps.

Hi Steve,
Welcome to another 54 owner. I brought my 3100 up from the Seattle area a couple of years ago. Have you had an inspection yet? Or is it not road worthy yet?
Post some photos when you can and maybe we will run into you one day.

Hi John I have not yet had it inspected is there a time limit. I was hoping to paint it and get all lights working before inspection. Do you no does it have to be inspected by crappy tire or can it be third party.
thanks and likin your ride

Steve, no time limit, but inspections need to be done by a licensed inspection station, even if your local CT is one, I wouldn't trust them to not find a bunch of things they'd want to sell you before they'd sign off - find an independent garage that will do it, but make sure everything works and there's NO rust holes anywhere

Hey where are you located? I'm in Maple Ridge, and took my front end apart as soon as I got my truck. I haven't done the steering box, but it's next.

RIV does not apply to vehicles older than 15 years, you can get your OOP inspection at the shop of your choice, perhaps one of the members here can suggest a classic/collector vehicle friendly shop.As for front end slop,it can be one thing,or everything, you will just have to check it all and replace accordingly.

I'm located in coquitlam. Good to no that I don't have use crappy tire they just don't understand old trucks. My front end has been swaped to a camaro clip so it has disks but stil has old steering box everything seems tight and I adjusted steering box ( probably wrong) still sloppy. My truck has a 394 olds motor so no room for power steering . I guess when it comes outa paint I'll rip out old box and rebuild it .

I couldn't transfer the title to my name until it passed inspection, so I rushed to get it done. It was unnerving, doing the work so it would pass but it still "belonged" to the former owner.
I had a great guy do my inspection. He was very "old truck" friendly. His concern was that the brakes were good and the front end was safe. I'll see if he is still doing inspections?? Ya, stay away from Cdn Tire!

Ditto the comments on crappy tire. Those guys work on commission.
