So who has power steering and what gear box are you using or did you tap the original

In reference to what year/model truck?

1948 4400 but it has a 389 v8 in it. Im just wondering what box people are using

I don't think there is a power steering box that fits all AD trucks, every situation is different.

I converted my '47, first series to 4WD, outside the frame, cross over steering, Scout Saginaw box.

My '37 GMC got a P3500HD front axle(5 and 10 lug wheels) w/ disc brakes, factory P3500HD Saginaw box, mounted outside frame, fore and aft motion, drag link shortened 1", other wise stock linkeage.

Saginaw GM boxes are pretty much the same, just use different pitman arms for crossover(4WD) or fore and aft(2WD) steering. If one takes any pitman arm and small 3 corner file, remove the factory skip spline, then can be used either way.

GM factory frames frequently crack from power steering stresses, it is useful to make a frame doubler to spread out some of these loads, use all 4 mounting bolt locations if present, as well as taking care of mounting obstacles.

My 56 has a scout box and cross over steering.

Most of the PS upgrades I've seen to older units have been all over the place and just "made to work". I'm having to go that route on my '46 skool bus. The original box was inside the frame and in the way of the new motor (a Cummins 4BTAA) so I'm working on installing an Isuzu NPR unit that fits on the outside of the frame. Lots of building to do but hey...
