I've been getting all my stuff for my '66 from LMC so far and I've had good luck until today. The seals for the door windows down't exactly fit all that well and I was wondering if there was a better place to get door rubber (or any other rubber for that matter). I've heard that most places sell the same stuff but surely there's something out there better than what I've got now.

Steel Rubber.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

While I do agree Steel Rubber had some nice seals, etc.. they are very pricy. I wish I could do my entire truck with Steel stuff, but $$$..

I agree about the prices of Steel Rubber. But if you don't pay the price the quality of the others is sub-standard.
At least choose Steel on the areas that you need quality.
IMO, I stay away from LMC. They are too big to care and their products do not impress me compared to others out there.

Testify! Rusty speaks the truth. thumbs_up

Don't buy from LMC......

ask any vendor who supplies the rubber, Steele agrees to not undersell vendors he supplies, but he doesn't insist they charge as much as his retail, you'll find some suppliers sell Steele products for a bit less than he does - as Rusty says, if it's important, stick with Steele - and skip SoffSeal

Toured Steele a couple weeks ago at their Denver,NC facility. Small American business with twenty-so employees creating a quality product. I was impressed with their products before the visit, after I will buy from them exclusively to support the local business creating a superior product.

To add more specifics. Bought vent window rubber for my son's 66 GMC from"Sisters". We fought it for hours getting it in and finally got it back on and it took vice gripss to hold it closed to latch it. Not useable.

Bought Steele rubber for the same window-softer pliable easy to install and WORKED! Worth the difference in money because one just wasn't right and Steele was.

Like R-bo, I've been to Steele's myself to pickup stuff. Usually me and a friend combine our orders and take turns driving up.

They are pricey but as all of you mentioned it's quality. They are nice to deal with, at least in person. Last trip up I asked if they would consider a STOVEBOLT discount and was told to have stovebolt get in touch with the marketing guy. Nothing was ever worked out and as mentioned, they will not cut their price.
I do know, and was told by one of the employee's that Steele doesn't make all their own stuff.... BUT, they insure the quality.

I bought some stuff from Classic Parts while in Missouri at the Stovebolt Reunions and I did buy some wing vent rubber from them. I was OK with it.... and it fit much better than some from another vendor....but not as good as Steele.

They outsource their felt but I think if the part is solid rubber they do it all there. They also do rubber with metal inserts. They use brass instead of steel so it will never rust out.

Been flyin' the flag for Steele Rubber for ever-and-a-day, sooooo glad to see other folk sees the way I sees. And while I'm throwing in my penny, I'll also say Rockauto too ..... a good and growing source for odds and bobbs.

not brass on the metal inserts unless it's hidden .... their products are good because they make things exactly as factory, and they have a "library" of original rubber to work from, one of the best resources vintage vehicle nuts have

I got a set of mint dealer take-off TF panel barn doors that still had the original rubber seals, could have used them, but I asked Steele if they'd repro the seals if I sent them in - they did, 100% perfect copy, and they asked if they could keep those originals for their "files"

Red58,

Thats correct, the brass would only be for what is inserted in the rubber.
