What to do with my 60 Burb I bought last year? After great feedback from Stovebolts, pouring over Internet and walking the car shows, I came to the conclusion that instead of going for an original restore, I wanted to keep a "preservation" look, but with new interior, glass, etc. The Burb has great bones, 178k original miles, original records, and even the original safety kit with flares! I'm the 3rd owner. The first owner took it on a trip from AZ to Alaska, packing a large ammo box with spare parts including hoses, plugs, spam and beans, which I still have. The 2nd owner was in his hunting group and bought it after he passed. I'm the 3rd owner. My last posts with pics were several months ago and I'm having to relearn the photo pic process but will try to post as I can. I'm having the major dents removed, having the white paint brought down over the windows, keeping the Neptune green and patina, and then a gloss clear coat overall. Inside will be repainted keeping pretty much the original dark grey and silver. Upholstery will be old school dark grey leather look with 2" lighter grey tucks perferated inserts. I'm working on all new glass but definitely a challenge, as is the headliner. Spent yesterday at a salvage yard looking for usuable sliding window frames. It's now finally on it's way to the shop, sending the seats to the upholsterer and removing the glass. That's about it so far. Now I just have to refamilierize myself with photo bucket to share it's progress! All for now and know I'll have plenty of questions for the Stovebolters! You can enjoy it modified now and if you decide to restore it later, it's mostly cosmetic paint. Sounds like a good plan to me. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2013 Posts: 52 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2013 Posts: 52 | Thx GMONIZ. Don't know how you guys (and gals) find these parts for the older Burbs. I'm learning a lot though, which is what it's all about.
I'm now in the market for new glass. I was at the Chevy "Truck Shop" in Orange, CA a couple of months ago and they had the front window, but said they wouldn't ship it? I'm wondering if it was because I wasn't a body or glass shop?
I'm heading back to CA again next week so going to ask again. Another option is to see if "Safelite" would come up from Phx and put one in? Any suggestions?

A lot of guys here swear its much better to let some glass shop/guy put in some of the hard to do glass, or if your unfamiliar with it. They break they pay makes sense to me. Best of luck. | | |
