They are located right in front of the rear fender. Does anyone know what went there? The spare tire is mounted under the bed, so I don't think it is that.. It seems like I have seen some sort of bracket holding a gas can maybe?

the truck was green and black and is on the web if you goggle 1939 chevrolet truck. Look at the images section.
