This past summer we had our first gathering at the Devils Backbone Basecamp. At lunch there was a motion on the floor to hold another gathering in the fall.

For those not aware, the Devil's Backbone is a really cool rustic brewery on the foothills of the Wintergreen Ski resort located in Ashton Va, about 30 miles west of Charlottesville Va.

Many have expressed an interest in joining. The way I see it, the more the merrier!

So let's start throwing out dates, some have expressed interest in going on a Saturday, some on Sunday. When is everyone available???

Any Sunday except for the 27th of this month works me. I will be at the Martinsville cup race.

Any Saturday starting 11-26 is good for me. Then soccer games will be over.

Gentlemen, the more vintage iron the better. However you don't have to bring your truck to come and drink a few beers and talk trucks.

Any Sunday this month works for me as well. Saturdays are eaten up with little league.

Can't wait to take Bill on his first long run. But (he said, sheepishly), could use a safety escort...

Sign me up!!!

Either day works for me, but if I had to narrow it to one, I'd take the 27th.

I think that's the sunny one, Alec.

Motion on the floor to set the date for Oct 20th with the 27th being a rain date.

All in favor?

I know the joy is in the journey, and I love you guys, but it better be some GOOD brews for me to go that far!

I'll see what I can do.

The "President's place" is in C'ville?

Ok, so for this here brew run, what's the plan for us trailer queens? Sweet, do you have an idea on where to leave a trailer? Would it be better to just go right to the DB? Is the cruise part the trip from the Presidents Palace to the DB or do you guys cruise from there and back? Just trying to figure out the plan.

I wonder if Stovebolt sponsored that video? Maybe we should approach D Rucker to be our entertainment director.

That's a great vid. I'm not into mainstream country but that tune has a twang to it I like. Those 'Bolts in the video were beautiful. Are those guys anyone we're supposed to know? Are they in the Gallery?

John, I'm sure you have heard about Duck Dynasty. The guy driving the AD is Silas Robertson from the show, that's his nephew Wilily driving the other truck with his wife and daughter. Willy's brother Jace is the door man, at least I think that's what he is,doing there.
They did a great job with the video. If you like the show, Stovebolts, and Darrius Rucker, it's a winner in my book.

Sweet,

HELPPPPPPP!

No start. No idea. Lots of rain. I think Ignition system and/or timing. Need a systematic troubleshoot of the entire ignition path. Bad mood.
What will it take to get Dr. Sweet to make a house call? I can offer beer, home cooked chow, gas money and free child labor.

Nice vid bone.

Re: No start. I think you're still running points in your 283, right? Sometimes moisture will prevent sufficient ignition. I've had some luck with spraying WD-40 (Water Displacement) in the distributor cap. It would be a quick "see if it works" approach.

Otherwise, I'm sure Sweet with come to the rescue. Good luck.

Sir, Get out the WD-40 and spray the wires all about the system. Why? It wicks H20 away from them. Also, use a hair dryer to dry the distributer inside cap. If it doesn't fire, then I dunno no. Then you especially need Sweet, as I need him here too, as my truck is so much better after he replaced the vacuum advance at Winchester. I want him to tweek it some more, though. Thanks Hambone. Per our conversation this morning I hope the "dial a crew chief" approach works! Otherwise you will need to trailer it to Long Island this coming week so we can make it purr!

Song on vid was written by Bob Dylan in the 60s but left unfinished until a group call Ole Crow Medicine Show got with Dylan to finish the song in the late 80s Dylan didnt have lyrics and was recorded by OCMS with limited success over 1 million copies but little air play, Rucker picked up a copy of OCMS song and got permission to release it last year. Ole Crow Medicine Show vid on utube is cool and worth watching.

wow if I could wrench as good as I can recall some other wise worthless music info my bolt would be on the road instead of the garage.
