Looking to replace all of the glass in my '49 3600 with light green tinted glass. I'm interested in recommendations for the best vendors, based on customer experience, quality of parts, pricing, etc. Thanks.

heavchev, welcome to the Stovebolt page. Lot of great folks hang out here and the knowledge base is superb.

The glass in our AD (advance design) is flat glass.....except for the corner windows on 5window cab. A local glass shop should be able to cut your glass for you and perhaps save you some money. My local shop had the green tint, and grey, in stock. I remember it as being very competitive to the vendors and if they make a mistake, which they did one window, you are local and they can make it good!!

I've seen a lot of bolters around here from the N.Y. area and sure you'll meet them. Good luck.

heavchev,welcome....just to add to what Alvin's already mentioned,if your truck still has the original glass and it's relatively intact,get the glass shop to use them as templates,that way you're guaranteed a better fit.

Got mine from Jim Carter's outfit.... green tint, perfect fit using all
new track/channels etc.... Also, Converted to power windows from Specialty Power Windows using the above glass...

Just for reference, yesterday I took my original window glass to a local glass shop to be used as templates for my 41 Chevy. I got a quote to make all five pieces from clear laminate glass for $180. The shop gave me enough setting tape to do the side windows and windshield for free. Hope this is some help with your decision process.

That seems quite low. My windshield cost that much to cut as it needs to be safety glass. You better check that they're giving you the proper windshield glass.

as another "reference" its been a couple years so things have gone up a little... but my 2 side windows, and 2 wing vent windows were $120 maybe a few dollars less. (but no windshields I had those)

...and at the same time some of my buddies were having theirs cut at a couple other places and paid out the yazooo!! Lots more than me so even in the same local it pays to shop around. On my 37 pickup the folks in my hometown, who does mostly mirrors and such actually cut my windshield for cheap. All I had to do was stop and ask!

Hit the glass shop that is in the rougher part of town. Not the guys who do all insurance work with preformed glass that they glue and pop in. Gotta go downtown to the guy with the rough looking old shop with some heaps parked around. Those are the guys to talk to. Or ask some rod guys who does their work.
