Has anyone changed emergency brake band on tranny, and where would I purchase new one.

...just reading the post. I don't have any experience of recent about them but if not available perhaps you could find some lining and reline the one you have???? Just chatting....

Yes, after the post I began to search for a,company to reline the ones I have.

Although I haven't tried it on my truck, McMaster Carr stocks a friction material that would appear to work. But then you would have to install the material onto your existing band.

they're not too bad. get some lining. cut it to fit (make sure if it's asbestos to cut it wet, with protection).
mark the rivet holes. drill rivet holes. rivet.
you can get an old riveter on ebay for cheap, and they're pretty!

I took mine off and took it down to 6 robles and they put a new lining on for 60 bucks.

just updating:I have not resolved the brake band yet. my stake bed parts are completed (thanks John Milliman)so the logistics of getting them back looks to be resolved during/after winter classic. After a few trips to my tire man I now have new 19.5 radials on freshly painted wheels.I went and talked to a few bodyshops to see about getting body done. All but one says they do only insurance work as thats where the money is for them. One told me to order all the panels and come see him after first of year he might have time then. That is where the forward progress ends for now. I have found other distractions and have contemplated just selling the truck to buy one thats already completed. I think my physical limitations are to restrictive to tackle this project.
