well i am almost finished with the 51 styleline i have been building. so i guess it is time to bring another project into the shop..i have a 41 GMC that was put on the back burner, so i guess i will bring that back in.. it has a 292- 350 thm in it now. i am thinking i may change directions with it. i really like this truck because most of the sheet metal is in near perfect condition. it is sitting on a late 70's gm frame the cab has been chopped and painted.. i am not real sure what i will do yet it. i have several options i have even thought about using the 6.5 turbo diesel thm400 i have in the corner of the shop in it.. but thats just a thought. i think i am more serious about the 261 i have sitting around with a s-10 5 speed.. right now i just want to get it out of the barn cleaned up some and down to the shop..i will post updates as things happen with it

Since it is already altered to the point of no return with chopping and frame, I would say the sky is the limit. A turbo diesel would be cool and unique, but would it fit between the fenders?

PS, like your handle name, "Thunder Road" is one of my favorite movies

Whiskey Runner, sounds like a FUN project. As Paul mentions, the "damage" is done so go for it. Keep us posted. I also been sort of looking at some stylines myself.

Paul, Thunderroad? yeah boy. I have the movie and over the years must have watched it over a hundred times. I know the song and all the lines. Here is whats hanging in my shop.

yea thunder road was a great movie.. i was only 8 or 9 but i can still see my dad and uncle watching it at the drive-in and cheering robert mitchum on.. my family didnt make shine, they were into stock car racing and "transportation" i've been around hopped up ,flatties, straight 8's an stovebolts since they stopped changing my diapers and handed me a wrench.. i am still not sure of the direction for the GMC i have a few more stock frames and cabs laying around so i could change directions at any time.. i checked and one of the 270 engines out back still turns over, i still need to check out one truck that may have a 302.. but the cost of doing a jimmy may stop me from going that direction

well been a long winter..:(... did manage to drag my truck to the shop.. tried to start the engine but no-go.. pulled the head and found a rusty #6 cyl and stuck valves.. i bent the crap otta the push rods trying to turn it over.. so now i need to figure where to go from here.. weather to keep the 292 and sleeve #6 cyl. and put back together since the rest of the engine is new.. or maybe put the 261 in it with the S-10 5 speed i already have. or i also have a 4.3 sitting in the shop.. may be awhile until i get back on it steady so i have a bit of time for thought (a dangerous thing for me) ha ha ha .. i started a new project for my daughter (64 f85 wagon) so i will be spread pretty thin for awhile..
