Hello guys. I'm a member of a volunteer fire and rescue dept. We have a 1939 GMC firetruck that we have restored. The resto is an older one. "15 years" The ol girl is used in parades and when laying a fallen brother to rest..Recently we lost a member that absolutely loved HIS truck. Two years ago during a parade the truck lost all oil psi. I worked it over and resolved that issue. I'm trying to track any and all information on the truck. I found C22864439 stamped in the block behind the distributor. I can't find anything on it. I will try to post pictures soon.Where can I find the vin or any other numbers?

Thanks for your patience and HELP

The VIN should be on a plate on the firewall on the passenger side.

If you can post links to pictures, we might be able to help you more.

There may be a serial number stamped on the frame, on the passenger side just in front of the front spring shackle.

GMCPic,

Did GMC start stamping the frame back in the 30's?

Chevrolet didn't start stamping the frame with serial numbers until 1955 second series, and then it was on the drivers side.

No not yet. I'm working on a 56 3100 pickup now and I have it in the paint/body shop yahoo . The goal is to have it done by May. Then the next truck to be done will be the 56 4400 Napco Fire Brush truck. Big Mert is after that, maybe...
