I have an USAF burb, as well. All the serial numbers are there but mine is missing the GA ID plate. Where is that located on your truck? How were you able to trace it's origin? I have searched everywhere for info but can't find a thing. It's very frustrating. Any tips? | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 63 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 63 | Hi Coffeeman,
The ID plate is on the dash ... about in the center, As for documentation ... the previous owner it for over 25 years told me it was from Travis ... he knew quite a bit about it. As we sanded down the back and doors the AIR POLICE and USAF markings started to reveal. Mine does not have the AF number stenciled under the hood like yours ... at least so far as I know ... maybe under some paint. I am trying to get the complete history from CA DMV ... but so far it has been incomplete. I asked the Travis AFB Historical group for info (pics and anything) but so far no response. I will put up more pics later. Good to hear from you! | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | dowain53 & coffeeman,
I am collecting photos of those pre-60s military ID plates.
If you do not mind doing so, please post photos of those ID plates (or, email photos to me).
Please also send me the make/year/size/series of the truck on which you found the plate.
Please also send me a description of the location of the plate, and/or an additional photo that shows where the plate was located (no need to see plate-details on this photo).
Thanks,

Let me know how your collection of plates goes ... love to see what you come up with. On my plate it shows the purchase contract number ... it would be interesting to find some documents to support the purchase. Also hoped to get some old pics from Travis AFB but nothing yet. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8l1orit0fqrsl9d/SJK4PC6Em0Thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Thanks, dowain53,

Please document this as well, most of them are so brittle and in pieces. ......g | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 63 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 63 | Thanks G ... it's really in great condition. I've cleaned it up with ArmorAll and I park it under a shelter ... certainly intend to keep it intact when I start the restoration. Just picked up a middle and rear seat so it'll look like the real deal at least till I start on it.
I'll post a few more pics later.
