Some may have a picture of their tailgate....or a photobucket account of their build listed along with the gallery story. Here is a pic of my friends 1946 which I think is the same as yours??? http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r19/LutherParris/2010%20Southern%20Stovebolters%20Reunion/010.jpg

You'll loose a day just looking at all of his photos, documentation, and information. http://www.46chevytruck.com/A good "factory photo" of a 1946 tailgate is on page 27 of 52 and page 28 of 52 of "Unit Designed Chevrolet Truck Bodies." Doesn't look like it has any raised or indented letters nor is "Chevrolet" or a logo painted on it. Disclaimer - this is just me talking out of my *** from looking at the pics, but no first hand knowledge. Similar photo, but not as clear is on page 18 of 84 in "1941 Chevrolet Trucks The Gold Book of Truck Values." Both books are on Tim's website, plus another must-have ... "1946 Chevrolet Truck Data Book for Chevrolet Salesmen." Download and save all three. The end gates were plain before that and up until the AD models appeared in '47. | | |
