I had to sell my 55 second in order to make this happen, but I am anxious for the change. The second was still farm fresh and still needs love. Someone sought me out to tell me about an orginal 54 3100. It has had but 2 owners. low miles. Original paint in very good condition and I cannot find any rust with the exception of some very light surface stuff on the frame. The last 10 years it was not properly stored so some attention is needed. Wish me luck!

Sounds like you have found a nice one to work on. Whats your plans for it?

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Initial plans will be to redo the entire braking system and get it running. then - keep it original, but I ah==have a question o two. For safety I would like to go to the dual master cylinder. This could require a second hole in the floor to check and fill the master cylinder - -thoughts? The door panels have warped - thoughts on if I replace them, will it hurt the original purist?
Please give me your thoughts. I will post a pic once it is at m home.

If your doors are warped you need to get other doors, don't worry about what others will think. (How would they know, as long as you have the correct doors) I left the single master cylinder in my truck, if I want to improve the brakes, I would sooner put discs in than a dual MC.

I really wish I was set up to enter a link to some picks of this 54 I was lucky enough to purchase. It was owned by the first family for 53 years. I am the third owner. I am still getting more documentation to support this but the full story fits to support it. All original but the wood in the bed was replaced. It is still a nice 20 footer. It was brought to my attention after last years July 4th parade when someone I knew told me about a person that was trying to help settle an estate. After a bit of work to wake her up, she has proven to be a very dependable truck. Need I say more? I am very fortunate!

Way to go carfolite. That is a nice one to get. They ARE getting harder and harder to find. You did good action on the tip as quickly as you did. Looking forward to pics.
