The lock on my '54 is on the driver's side to discourage static electricity in your pants when you slide across the plastic seat cover to exit out the passenger door ... I guess.

Major decline in two-parent households is my guess.

Or, it could be due to pollutants in the air, and too much fast food?
I do not remember locking our cars, but we never left the keys in the ignition (50s and 60s in VA).
| | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,901 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,901 | Maybe hoodlums Mom's taught them a different set of morals? 2006 mid afternoon on a week end: I pull into the parking lot for the "Rainbow Bridge" (no not that bridge... the old rail bridge to Gold Country in downtown Folsom Ca. ) in my 93 Chevy G-20 van and parked. A row of 2000 and newer cars and SUV's fill the rest of the spots. I get out, grab my guitar and a camera leaving the other guitar, musical equip, desk top computer, Inverter,etc.as well as all my carpentry tools under the bed in the back, close the door unlocked and head down to the river for an hour or so. When I return every vehicle but mine had smashed glass and was broken into. Mine was untouched. While some put there faith in security systems or other systems I trust hoodlums Mom's with apparently more success...
