on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 26 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 26 | OK, I just got my "new" truck home and It's a 1949 4100 and it's gonna need tires and I want to see if the wheels I have are Widow makers or not. I don't really want to invest any time if they are widow makers, and if they are I would like to know my options. So the question is how do I identify what they really are without pulling the tires off. Also, and this may be a dumb question, but are widow makers only on the front or the rear or both? Any help would appreciated.

I have looked at this page and the pictures. Is the only way to tell if they are Widow makers is by pulling the tire off and inspecting the rim?

The thread Rich posted above has two picture links in the later part of the first post. One shows many types of multi-piece rims, and the other is of an actual Firestone RH 5* rim. Those pictures should be all you need to see to then look at your wheels and tell if they are RH 5* or not.

If where the valve stem exits the wheel is slotted it is a tube type wheel, if it is tube type and and there is no removable bead ring and no bolts to where the wheel comes apart look for what looks like a tubeless drop center this will be where the wheel splits for service and it is a widow maker. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,276 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,276 | Hellow Gigg you beat me to the punch.
