I have been looking around for things I am going to need to get my new project up and running. I am looking for brake parts but no one seems to have listings for them specific to the f370 or they list them as "all models". I just want to make sure I would be gettingthe corredct parts.....I have seen 3B post part numbers from old books he must have. Any help with part numbers would be appreciated. I am sure I am going to need everything from the master to the wheel cylinders. Also, Who rebuilds hydrovac systems. I saw in the tech section on how to rebuild one but I would rather leave it up to the professionals when it comes to brakes.

Hy buggy5872, I haven't been ignoring your question, but I haven't had a lot of luck confirming/locating parts for the "56 F370 series". I believe the master cylinder o.e.m. p/n was 2265213 which was Wagner p/n FE-13066. However I can't locate that master cylinder at any of the suppliers. There are different front and rear wheel cylinders listed depending on what front axle is in the truck, and whether the truck had HydroVac, or AirPac brakes. if you could give us a casting number off of the master cylinder, and let us know if your front wheels have a single front wheel cylinder or two wheel cylinders per front wheel that may help to identify what you need to purchase, hope that helps.

3B and Shane,

I've never found a MC for any of my TF 2-1/2 ton trucks, I've always had to send them out for sleeving and then put a new kit in them.

The wheel cylinders have been on the shelf at the NAPA warehouse or my BIG turck parts house...same with the Hydrovac.

I have a 57 GMC 370 LCF. It has 2 wheel cylinders per wheel for a total of 8. Fronts were different from rears. I never did find a master cylinder, just rebuilt it myself. Bought a NEW Hydrovac from a guy in Morris, Il. cheap as a rebuilt one. His business is Midwest Power Products, name is Rich, nice guy. The wheel cyls. and brake lines came from NAPA. After about $1000 I have great brakes!

I had the best luck with NAPA, they have these weird things called "books",... wink
Anyway, if I recall right I measured the bore on my the master cylinder and we found it was the same as the 1-ton trucks and they had one for me in a day. Wheel slaves depended on the truck, since mine was modified for a dump the fronts were 7/8" and I have two 2" slaves per wheel out back. I took the measurements in and they used a book to match them to later year products that were identical or at least close enough to work.

I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things.
But thats just MY opinion!
