Has anyone used this and if so can anyone give me a lot of tips. I comes with instructions and all the wires are numbered but it makes no sense. There idea of instructions are more of a generic key for the numbers on the wires. In short I have no idea what I am doing and it is pretty frustrating.

Thanks
Brian

With some help from many others on this site I have just completed most of the wiring on my ’41 with a home made harness. If you have specific questions maybe I can help Also if you go to this web site you will find a good wiring diagram. http://chevy.tocmp.com/chevywiring/index.htm

Kip,
I may just be emailing you for advice but what I am really looking for is any advice specific to the Jim Carter wiring harness. They just haven't giving me much to work with.

I'm doing the same as Kip's41... I am rewiring things myself with spools of wire. Since what we're doing is similar to what you're doing (only we don't have the diagram or the numbers) I think that we can help you out.

Alan Horvath might pop in (he's one of the moderators) and throw in his two cents. He's done a harness kit rewire job and may be more helpful to your specific frustrations than Kip or I. He's got a write up that might interest you. It can be found here

If you have some specific questions (e.g. "I have a six gauge wire. Where does it go?") Kip and I can probably help you out.

the numbers should let you ID each end of the same wire. Did you try to lay out the harness the wires my fall into enough of a location to help figure it out. you should have a wiring diagram to help figure it also.

Well thank you all for all your help. I took another look at the harness that I had and it turns out it was for an alternator not set up for a gen. Once I figured this out and got the right one it was a piece of cake. By the way I spoke with Julie at Jim Carter she set me up with a return authorization number and reorder the correct item. She was great help.
Thanks again for everyones help.

You're welcome. I'm glad everything worked out for you!

Julie is a swell lady, isn't she? She helped me out once, too.
