Hello everybody, I'm a new guy from upstate NY. I just picked up a 69 C10 last week. Was a farm truck from NC, the truck is mostly original, 250, 3 on the tree. I plan on driving it just the way it is with a few little upgrades here and there for reliability. I'm really into anything pre-63. I also have a 1949 Ford project custom car I've chopped the top on and all that jazz. I'm a dealership mechanic by day to pay the bills.

Skips, welcome to the Stovebolt Page. Its the place to be if you enjoy old Chevy iron. Knowledge is the best resource and there is plenty of it here... and folks willing to share. Not sure you'll find much info on Ferds but I love them all if they're old.
You'll also likely to find some bolters close by. There is a good following from up around your area. They'll find you!!

That 250 is a good engine and the 60's have a forum pretty much all to their self for many of those years.

As for reliability upgrades, a 3 wire internally regulated alternator is a great place to start. If your ignition system works good, leave it alone but be sure to throw a spare set of points and a condenser as well as a set of feeler gauges in the glove box. If it gives you trouble it would be worth it to put in an HEI. Add in a fuel filter you'll be glad you did, on a 50 year old truck there WILL be sediment in the tank. Other than that these trucks are so dirt simple they're surprisingly reliable just the way they are.
