found BIG 650 GMC on Cl.

owner tells me it has distributor on DRIVER side of motor.

what would it be?
he says no GMC on valve cover.

NOT detriot diesel.
its a gasser.

It sounds like it may be a 426. Bob Burch has one in Dubuque,Iowa. It's the only G.m.C. engine of that era,(to MY knowledge),that has the intake/exhaust on the passenger-side of the engine. Any pic's?

Actually the 318, 360, 426, & 503 GMC inline gas 6 cylinders all look the same. According to my GMC Heavy Duty Truck Catalog, a 650 series should have a 318 in it. Check out the flat ledge, at the base of the distributor, for the engine serial no. The first three digits should give you the ci. displacement, if it's not a reman.

owner was unable to hold clamshell hood open with one hand and lean in to read numbers.
I am VERY aware of GMC numbering-just had ZERO experience w/anything bigger than a 302...

AWESOME!!!

any value to those motors for a hot rod? parts availability?

when i had the 720 series it came with a 426. when i got it, it had a 8.2 detroit fuel pincher in it from the late 70's. ive seen 620's with 503's in them. never saw the 318 or 360 yet laalaa
