For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,260 "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! | | "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,260 | I was comparing the mounting location from drivers side to passenger side. On the drivers side, the holes through the cowl match the inner support plate holes. On the passenger side, it looks almost as if the mirror was added as an afterthought?? Both holes are about 3/8" above the inner support plate holes with the upper screw hole moved towards the front of the vehicle by 1/4". Both holes were drilled without the inside being deburred. Normal? I can see where it puts the passenger mirror in a better line of sight for the driver as it kicks the whole assembly up a little higher. The GM outside mirror-arm on the passenger side has an odd bend to it. The holes for the GM mirror arms are in similar locations on both sides of the cab. If you look under the dash, you'll see a small brace with holes in it - those holes are where the mirror holes are drilled The driver's side mirror was standard equipment. The passenger side mirror was a factory option, or an accessory installed by the dealer/owner. Sounds like you have a home-job right-side mirror on your truck? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,260 "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! | | "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! The arm is stock and as old as the truck. Since it is really close to the stock location, I will leave it as is. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Mark, the outside passenger mirror is "deformed" so that you can look through the right side windshield and be able to see whats going on behind you. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,260 "Hey! The positioning is actually really good. I should be able to see it out the passenger window just fine! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Looking at mine I'd say you have right where it goes. I hadn't drilled the holes in mine yet but you can see its the same. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r19/LutherParris/52Panel/100_1398.jpg....your keeping your project moving.
