For you bolters in Southern MD, anybody know anything about the panel truck buried in the weeds next to the decaying barn (also covered in weeds) just north of the Calverton School on the northbound side of Rt. 4 in Calvert Co.?

I see there is a new gate across the driveway to the farm (much like developers install after buying farms to start planting a crop of houses). Would hate to think the truck may end up in a scrap yard.

Is this the address? 3005 Solomons Island Rd, Huntingtown, Calvert, Maryland 20639 Go to Google Earth Maps street view. I can't see the truck, but I think I found the Barns.

Far be it from Alvin to take stuff without permission, he's only wishing he could find those rare items. Alvin, now you have a good excuse to go to the homecoming at John & Peggy's farm.

Yes, that's the address. No, those barns at the road are not it. See the slightly darker green separating the 2 fields. It goes east to a section of woods that sticks out into the fields. The barn is there in front of the woods. The panel is visible in front of the barn.

I am in NO WAY suggesting go and take parts. However, if the property owner can be traced, located and a sale arranged, I would like to assist with the recovery of the panel.

The old business advertising signwork is still visible on the side of the panel. No, I cannot make out what it says as I drive by at 55 MPH on the other side of the highway (never have time to look or stop when heading north).

Guys: Go to the register of Deeds or the County clerk, and they will be able to look in the Grantee index and ascertain the name and address of the new purchaser.

You can see the panel from the ariel view but not from the street view. Google Earth is a great way to find old trucks. I also find old junk yards this way. Now all we need is someone to go check this one out. If someone was interested, they have the address, send them a letter with your name and address, who knows, someone might respond!

The next door neighbors address is 3005 Solomons Island Rd, Huntingtown, Calvert, Maryland 20639

Can anyone see that stainless on the fenders? grin

.... I think Huntr knows I was joking but in all honesty, if he could get it I'd sure like to have MY name on those parts first!!
Leo, your right, I do want to go up to John and Peggy's but family committments gotta come first...at least in this case!

Oh well, some day I'll find them. Maybe by the time I actually need them!!

Noticed over the weekend that the barn behind the panel has been torn down and all the weeds have been removed from the panel. It's still there. You can see the remains of a business name on the side of the truck from the highway. For those of you in SoMD, it's right across the street from the Wilson Ennis Clubhouse in Huntingtown. Wish I had somewhere to work on it...

As I have said before. The easiest way to find the owner is to back a tow truck up to it. Like magic the owner will appear. Ha
