What do you guys make of these numbers ?

engine serial # 0234S4IT56Z
engine casting # 3837004

Head casting # 3835913

We pulled this engine out of a 1955 or 1956 6500 series truck.

Thanks,Tim

T56Z

1956 passenger car 235

0234S4I = 0234541 ?
T = Tonawanda, NY
56 = 1956
Z = standard engine/transmission

57/58 block casting code
54/55 head casting code

Post the head/block date casting code (the head code, in particular, under the valve cover at the rear manifold-side of the head)

Looks like a late 1955 engine 235 that was put in a 1956 car?

All 1956 and later 235 engines had hydraulic lifters. I wonder if the late 1955 car engine put in a 1956 car had mechanical lifters (only Powerglide-equipped 1955 235 car engines had hydraulic lifters).
