What all is needed to swith over from a 3 speed to a 4speed transmission in my '50 3600 stock truck. The 3peed is connected to the shaft in an enclosed torque tube. The 4 speed that I am looking at does not have the fitting to connect the torque tube cover. Am I missing something on the install or do I need a different intermediate shaft?
Thanks
John

You may want to look into an open driveline. Perhaps look at a 1 ton or greater 4-spd with the open driveline connection. Then probably a new center carrier and short driveshaft from a driveshaft center. Otherwise, follow my post. There are no readily available parts.

The 4spd will only give you a lower gear. Top gear is still 1:1 or direct.

Not sure, but the bellhousing may be different between the two as well as the clutch size.
