on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 177 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 177 | I got a little distracted with moving, but I am finally able to start working on the truck again. A few weeks ago I drove up to a parts supplier in my area and he showed me some new Inner to Outer Cowl Panels that he was getting in: Link The seemed to fit up nicely against the outer cowl, but he did not have a inner cowl to compare with. I grabbed a few pictures linked below. Photo 1 Photo 2 Photo 3 I figured I would put the info out there (not sure if this is the right place). | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,272 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,272 | The fitment problem hasn't been with the outer cowl in my experience (three AD's), it is how it doesn't fit the inner cowl. I am curious to hear how this one fits the inner cowl, even though I have no interest in tackling another one that requires that much work. Three is enough for me.

The slant of the upper most portion does not fit the inner cowl properly. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | Comparing it to a replacement inner kick panel won't tell you much. The fitment on the replacement kick is just as bad. Had to hammer and rework that piece also ...pic... ...pic... ...pic... Keep us posted if it works out , could help others with this repair. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 | I just finished installing the inner piece on the right side last night. What a PITA! There is so much wrong with the piece, it might have been easier to build one from scratch. All the curves are wrong and the base is not tall enough to reach the kick panel. I had to slice and dice it, recurve it, etc. Luckily, I left the outer cowl in place until after the lower hinge pillar, inner to outer cowl filler, and kick panel were replaced. Then, I cut and replaced the lower out cowl. This way, I maintained alignments and curves properly. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 | I made a pattern off of one of my inner to outer panels, before removing it all. I made one for the driver's side, it fit pretty well, about the only thing I had was it was a little off on the curvature along where the fender fit to it. A little flat in the mid section... Having a little gap along about midway along. I should see if I can find the patterns and graph them on 1/2" squares and post them on here, for anyone that might want to fab one up.......

It is rusty with holes in it here and there, but generally intact and undamaged during removal. Just send me a PM if you want it. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | | | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 | Part is spoken for. I asked John to pay the part forward when he is done with it. So, whoever is interested in using the part as a pattern, please communicate amongst yourselves and I hope the part ends up helping a lot of people out. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,248 | I guess I'll ship it on to Chipmunk after I'm done getting a pattern off it.
