bought 5 vehicles from deceased mechanics' son as they were selling the family farm. 55 chevy belair (trashed), 3 '58 Apache 1/2 tons, and 53 GMC SWB (orig drivetrain). trying to mix and match. My keepers will be the '53 and one of the Apaches. I'll have to use ignition switch from this, glass from that, door from here, etc, as the Apaches all had various issues. So, I'll be asking alot, please go easy on me, after all I'm left handed, so I think backwards! have a good weekend. PS, I'm in Huntsville, AL.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Hi lefty, welcome. Hopefully you can get something to work with all those vehicles. Better to be a lefty than have 2 left hands. Not sure if the car will be of much use in getting the trucks going, they're a bit too different. Are they all sixes or some V8s in there?

Say, Lefty, slick 69 suggested I touch base with you, and the that you may have a line on a good cab for a '57 3800 Chevy. I bought a 6500 to take the cab for my 3800. When I bought it (from OK), I thought it was another 3800. How smart am I? Anyway, I don't want destroy what is a pretty nice truck for the cab when someone may want to buy it redo it.

Ricky S, sorry I have no 57, only 58s and they are 1/2 ton, don't know if same as 3800. One is a LW, i know it's a stepside 58 LWB series 32.
Good news, so far, turned over w/prybar on flywheel 2 straight 6s (GMC 228 and Chevy 235) that I've soaked for 2 weeks w/penetrating oil. Waiting on carb kits. All is going well. Thanks, Lefty.

guys, all model conventional cabs for the Task Force series [55.2-59] are identical, the 6500 cab is the same as the 3800, a 1/2T cab will fit a 1T truck fine, and any year cab will work on another year .... but take the dealing to PM or email please wink
