greetings from sunny AZ. I joined stovebolt months ago but making it official today.

I spend my days crunching numbers and recently my weekends buying tools and turning wrenches. new guy is an understatement.

I have always loved the sound, look and feel of old trucks. I decided to buy one and put it to work. I purchased a 1954 3600 that I only recently learned was converted to a stakebed. I obviously have a ton to learn and hope most of it will come the easier and less expensive way ie from stovebolt. thanks for all the great advice to date.

I need a pickup to haul stuff so i decided to buy the 54 3600. It will mainly be used in the country for trips to grandma's, dump, etc. thus, not terribly concerned about achieving modern day highway speeds.

The truck is one of those IWRWIPI . I'm currently working my way through the great stovebolt tech article on bringing dead engines back to life. Im currently on electrical. It will not be a show truck nor will it be original to the experts but i hope it will look and feel like an old truck and that it is safe to drive. I recently removed the crappy power steering it had and will next put in manual steering, ignition, etc. i need to clean up wiring, fix the brakes, and, of course try to fire it up.

It is not an original stakebed but the bed will suit me just fine. The obvious clue that was pointed out to me after buying it: its long running boards. I purchased some short boards from desoto which should improve her beauty.

I just learned what a power steering gearbox looks like so i have my work cut out for me.

Pictures of work in process. My original goal was to simply get it running which turned into one step forward and two back. The power steering crap was removed, front clip is off, plan to try my hand at flaring fuel pipes, etc.

Welcome to the site. Good to have a hobby if you're a number cruncher. I know what it's like to have one step forward and two back, happened to me every step of the way, almost. I eventually got it on the road again and so will you. Good luck.
