I would like the cab to look as stock as possible. Is it possible to modify a 54 steering wheel to use with the 53 steering shaft?

AFAIK someone is making them now,not sure who but if I find out i'll let you know. I've no doubt it will be expensive.....! 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. The steering wheels mounting is the same at least from '47-'93, possibly later (I haven't taken too many airbag style steering wheels off). Are you planning on installing power steering? A smaller steering wheel will increase steering effort.

I would be looking for a larger than stock wheel myself if my belly wasn't so big. Maybe I need to work on my big-assed belly.

I may be more comfortable if I can reduce the thickness of the seat back so I can sit further back an inch or so. Steering effort on my truck is very light--I'll find a 54 steering wheel and compare the diameter with mine.
