Does anyone know for sure if the 49 had a later 1/2 year change in size? I noticed they are sold as 47 to 49 and also 49 to 53? | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 684 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 684 | I belive If your center headliner bar is fixed to the roof it is a early '49. If it floats and is crimped to the head liner it is a later model. I'm sure some one will correct me if I'm wrong. Some of the vendors describe these pieces better than others as well. This change is best described as a fixed rib (2-piece design) for 1947-mid 49. Or floating rib (single piece design for late 49-55 1st Series. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Late 1949 (as posted above):
• New-style cab windlace fits in metal track around door opening.
• Headliner center bow is now "floating type", no longer screwed to roof of cab.
• Hood side emblem says CHEVROLET, no longer says THRIFTMASTER or LOADMASTER.

It sure makes good sense as to why I couldn't properly install the one I have now. I have just ordered a replacement headliner, the none floating type, earlier 49 cab. | | |
