For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 17 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 17 | hello to all i am new to this but excited to learn how this all works. This fall i came across a sweet barn find while riding my bike near my house. it was an all origanl one owner 1949 chevrolet 3800 pick up. the farm was abondond and i had to look up the owners address in the plot book. when i got ahold of the owner he couldnt belive i was intersted in that old truck, but for me it was love at first sight. i offered cash for the truck he wouldnt take insted i traded him by putting two new box sides on his sons dodge pick up. anyway worked out great for me since im in the autobody buss. I will try to get some photos uploaded. ive since got it runnig but not driving since theres 3ft of snow on the ground here. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 | Welcome stormsoneton. Sounds like you made a good deal. It's hard to find one-owner trucks that old anymore. Hey, there's lots of help to be found here on this site. Parts too, if you need anything. Good luck with it.

As a '49 one ton owner, you must be ruggedly handsome, rippling with muscles, command respect from all you meet, bowl consistant 300's and are a wicked good fisherman. Am I right??
At any rate, welcome to our site. If you know HTML code, you can insert a link to your photos by accessing the "My Stuff" link above. Then access the "Edit Profile" link and scroll down until you get to the box for inputting whatever you want in your signature line.
If you have any issues or trouble, let me know or post in the IT Short Bus and one of us can help you out.
My '49 1-ton is a 2-owner truck and is original/unrestored. Yours isn't red with black fenders, is it ...?
Welcome aboard! John

I removed the screws from the front and hammerd around the lugs a little. they wiggle a tinny bit but it feels like the brakes are holding them um. theres no tesion on the parking brake. can anyone help me out? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 396 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 396 | Loosen the adjusters on rear of backing plate with a 5/8 inch socket, 2 each wheel. Insert 3 fair sized pry bars between drum and backing plate at about the 2, 6 and 10 o clock positions. Using a Big Hammer, drive the pry bars in and the drum should move. At all costs, DO NOT DESTROY the drums, they are very difficult to replace. Sometimes unbolting the wheel cylinder will help give some more room. Good Luck. Jerry Jerry
