Although I have been posting random questions for a little while, as of today it's official. I received my stovebolt today, a 1955 Series 1 3100. She is fresh from Oklahoma, and I believe I may be only the third owner from new. She is a runner, having been modestly maintained (but not restored) by the previous owner.

Welcome to the stovebolt Trooper Jeff. What cha been waiting on smile
Sounds like you have found a nice ride. You'll find lots of knowledge and great folks here willing to share. I also bet you'll find some more bolters around your area. Maybe the ODSS bunch. We're here to help. Post in the most appropiate forum for the best results and most views/help.

Hi Jeff and welcome!

As Alvin says (his avatar really is what he looks like, by the way), we have a pretty active Stovebolt group here in the NoVA/MD area. We have a major weekend get together here at Stovebolt HQ the weekend of 26-28 April (Homecoming) -- We'd love to have you join us for all or part of the weekend. We have plenty of comping space available here (Stovebolt HQ also is a 17-acre christmas tree farm ). We have guys come from Lexington, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Winchester, Fulks Run and a few other places.

We have other things we do throughout the year, as well so if you can't make it to Homecoming, you can catch up with us somewhere else.

We have some active threads going over in the ODSS Forum -- stop in and introduce yourself in one of them. And don't be put off by any of our banter -- there's a group of us who have gotten to know each other pretty well and we sling BS at each other but it's all in fun/stress relief. Feel free to get in there and throw an elbow as well. Stovebolting is a contact sport, after all. And if ya ain't bleedin', ya ain't tryin!

Welcome aboard!

Hey Alvin and Leo -- Thanks for all the great greetin' you hombres have been doing.

Regards,
John

Jeff,

Your truck is spectacular! It's extremely hard to find them anywhere near that condition today.

Great score

Thanks for all the responses. I am really happy with this find.

After a thorough going over, it appears to be all original except it has been rewired in places with modern insulated wire. But everything works, except the radio and the wipers (still has its vacuum system, non-functional).

All the the mechanicals (motor, tranny, drive, etc.) are old and functional. We are working on a brake job and a new exhaust system. It probably could use new kingpins and steering gear work too. Oh, and a carb rebuild.

Also I must admit the paint looks nicer in the photo than in person. Close up, it is cracked quite a bit. My friends and I are are continuing to debate whether it has a very old repaint. There does appear to be a few bits of overspray in odd spots. But I love the patina and intend to keep the finish just the way I found it.

I'll post some current photos in a day or two.

Jeff

Was going through a batch of photos and found this photo of my truck the day it was delivered from Texas.
