I do not know when they started putting paint codes on the trucks but it was at the very least, after 54. On my truck, written in grease pencil on the underside of the hood, is written "Transport" for transport blue. You may get lucky and find something like that but that is the best you can hope for other than finding some original paint in a hidden area of your truck. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | If you are referring to a 1952 USA Chevrolet truck (which the year of the 6VWC 1601 Vehicle Number), there was no paint and/or trim code placed anywhere on a tag on the truck that year. Does not matter what size truck you have. 6VWC 1601 6 = Oakland VW = 1952 6400 series C = March 1601 = 601th 6400 series truck produced at that plant that year (1601-1000) If you are referring to the Vehicle Serial Number plate ( upper right on this page), 6VWC 1601 was the only code originally put on that tag. The other code might be an attempt to put an engine code on that tag (for a replacement engine?). Can you post a photo of your tag? Or, mail a photo to me and I will post it here lederman@siena.edu. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | It's not unusual to find the paint name written on the underside of the hood on '55 and earlier trucks.
