O.K. gang here I go, i have read about 3 pages of this section. My situation is this, I have 4 wheel disk brakes on my 51 1/2 ton Chevy 3100. I purchased the disc/disc power brake master cylinder set up. Thought this would be pretty straight forward, i am mounting it under the cab in the normal position.1st question is there a specific size of brake line ?? I went to parts store and found out there are about 3 sizes?? Is there a certain size or does it matter?? i bought 3/16th's! Also proportioning valves? From what I have read I need this because of where the system is mounted? help please.

The 3/16 lines should be sufficient. If you bought a kit the proportioning valve should be on the master cylinder.

It looks like this on the Performance on Line kit.

Read about my installation on my '54 here.

area51...I too used the underfloor set up but I did not put a proportioning valve and I do not have disc brakes....however, on my 52 there was one line, 1/4" if I remember right, that crossed over to the chassis rail and then it was all 3/16.
...don't know if this applies to your situation or not but just food for thought.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Thanks guys,
Cletis that is exactly what mine looks like. Yes the exiting line is 1/4 inch but it will be reduced to the 3/16's. I googled and read a few things last night.i found out about all the different fittings, pipe, ansi, etc... I think i got it figured out but will certainly read your instal.

Cletis read the write up good info, I have my master cylinder and pedal already installed. My disc brakes were not a conversion i have a ford 8.8 rear end.My headache was slightly less than yours. I did have to "make" the assembly fit. I cut some of the stock assembly bracket away to do this worked out fine, about 7 hrs. worth of fitting and grinding??
Again thanks for the info.
