Hey,
New guy here on the board. I rebuilt my fathers 87 K5 Blazer a few years ago as my first foray into working on vehicles and loved it so i'm back again. This time it's a 61 Apache 10 that will be my wife's daily driver, putzing vehicle. Finally found one that I thought was in good enough shape to buy.

It is a little rough with typical painted over rust spots that are peeking thru on the floor and around the bed and fenders in areas but not bad enough that we can't get her on the road soon while I restore it.

Has a flat 6 with the 3 on the tree and the inside isn't too bad with an unmolested dash and original seat that needs a recovering. I figured I can't go too wrong at $1800 for it. Has a rusted metal bed covering the wood thats pretty rotted out but the frame appears good and the engine runs albeit with oil leaks.

Pics later when I get her home, just paid for it today and picking it up Saturday.

Glad to be here!

Hi Joe, welcome. I bet it's hard to wait til Saturday. All these old engines leak, mine too after a full rebuild. I don't think it's a flat 6 unless it has been changed out. All that stuff that you say has deteriorated can be fixed, enjoy the journey. It's a good hobby.

Joe, a wife who will drive a pickup as a daily driver is a definitely a keeper along with the truck!! Congrats on you acquistion, and good luck. We're here to help.

.... I see your from Ga. and that makes you a Southern Stovebolter. Be sure and check out the Southern Bolter forum and keep an eye out for southern gatherings. There will be a couple this spring/summer at the Alanta dragway in Commerce. A bolter is in charge of it and would love to have us any first saturday of the month.

...oh, dang it, I forgot to say Welcome to the Stovebolt Page.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Thanks folks. Good point on the engine, yes its actually a 235. I'm used to discussing V8s so used the wrong vernacular I suppose!

And yes, the wife is definitely a keeper...
