Here's a photo of the differential: www.stovebolt.com So far, I've contacted Randy's Ring & Pinion, but they do not have a line on the components to rebuild the posi unit. I'm not giving up so easy! I will keep looking for parts; I will also begin looking for a shop with a lot of history that may be able to rebuild the unit if I can't find the parts. I will keep you posted. Do you think your ring and pinion is bad? Bearing, races and seals are available. (Rockauto and Autozone)
I'm not sure about clutch packs but I'm hoping that 19 spline dana 44 parts will work.
Spring will see me doing the same thing I'm hoping.

Fortunately, my gear set is good, with no chipped teeth. The wear pattern looks good, too. (I will try to upload a photo of the inside of opened up case tomorrow.)
Thanks for the info on the bearings, races & seals! I'm trying to find info on the clutch pack; I hesitate to crack open the traction lok unit, not knowing how it's put together...

I've got one to open up and compare. One thing to think about that I learned the hard way. Some powr loc's have reverse threaded bolts on the carrier halfs, some don't. The reverse threaded ones are expensive if you can find them.

Using the part number from your Spicer bulletin I found. http://www.4wheelparts.com/Drivetrain-Differentials/Dana-44-Power-Loc-Clutches.aspx?t_c=12&t_s=237&t_pt=101189&t_pn=D%2fS22233X
I hadn't thought that the 55p (passengers) would use the same parts but I guess when they finally came out with factory posi for the 55t (chevy truck) in 61/62 time frame it was probably similar. | | | | Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 2 Moderated | Moderated Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 2 | You may want to check www.rockauto.com. Looks like depending on your motor CID, they have some of the bearings/cones/seals needed for your Spicer 45. Decent pricing, too.

I was told by my parts outfit that they maybe able to send out my old froze up one and have some made. Not cheap. How about different gear ratios ie ring and pinion?
Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks. Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

All the parts places do the same. Problem is its not for the Dana 45 axle.

I think it looks like the one from my Dana 45; I will have a chance to check it out this weekend to be sure. Hope it helps. You'll want to set up the distance as it is now, not back to factory specs. If you do, you'll have noise and probable future gear wear.

Tim The 2 larger rubbers?, my local parts joint pulled one similar to that photo it was for an older truck don't remember the year. A photo is a photo, the parts listing is not for the posi rear, the guy at my parts place searched and couldn't find a match.
