Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2012 Posts: 68 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2012 Posts: 68 | Hello, I have a 1953 3600 and I was just wondering would it be fairly easy to replace a column shift 3 speed transmission be replace with a 4 speed stick shift?
Were they fairly interchangeable back then or is it a can of worms?
Thanks, Dave

Same length as the 3-speed. You would need the 4-speed forward u-joint yoke and the 3-speed rear u-joint yoke.
The speedometer drive and driven gears would most likely not give the correct speed. A ratio adapter can be obtained for about $100 or less.

They are plentiful and cheap and will bolt right up. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 35 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 35 | how about drive shaft and rear end then will i have to do anything there?
