As you will see in the pictures the frame is done, put the 2 1/2 inch drop disc brakes on the front, added the power steering box, mounted the rear gas tank and got the reconditioned 350 engine and turbo 400 transmission mounted. Next week I am starting on the cab and have a lot of work to do. Plenty of rot in the floors. Your progress inspires us, and makes us jealous, all at the same time! Keep up the nice work. I sure like those finned valve covers. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 207 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 207 |

What drove me to it was the smell of gas in the cab when I drove the truck when I first got it. Not sure how the others were mounted but I mounted mine to be flush with the top of the frame. Basically it is 13" deep and only 6" hang below the frame so I am hoping that it does not show as much as the picture. If it does, I will just paint a chevy emblem on it and go with it. Worst case, I can find a 50's tank to hang in the frame or get a custom tank built. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2012 Posts: 19 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2012 Posts: 19 | Thanks for the positive feedback. I will keep it in mind. Need to see how this turns out first. Hopefully I did not throw away a couple of hundred dollars and a day of work. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 435 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 435 | Great work! You'll have a sweet ride when you get done, and there won't be another like it. The suspension work you've done should make it handle like a slot car compared to the other. Tramp | | |
