Just installed a power steering pump while keeping the original generator on a 235. The crank pulley is a 292 machined(2 groove) to fit the 235, the pump is off a GM 78-84 V8 van, 2 groove SBC water pump pulley and a 2 groove generator pulley. Waiting on CPP to release their series 400 box to finish the job. I will e-mail pictures to anybody thats interested.

What brackets did you use to mount the pump?

Crank pulley and Power steering mount were made by Buffalo Enterprises.

Another way to address this is to use a 50's style GM PS/generator combination which elininate the need for additional mounts and pulley sheeves. Finding one is sometimes an issue but they are available.

I would be real interested in what it took to do this. I can handle the non-power brakes but standard steering is a bear.

With split exhaust, the extended generator wasn't a optiom. Cpp looks to be coming out with a box that is a direct replacement for the stock one. Putting a later GM box on the outside of the frame would be a problem with over size wheels and tires. This new box will adapt to the stock steering column

Mendonjo,

Grease your king pins. IMHO standard steering in good condition should only be a minor inconvenience, not "a bear". Make sure your suspension & steering is in good shape. Be Safe! We want to BS with you about stovebolts for a long time.

Leon
