Single cyl MC , vacume booter everything stock pedal goes to floor with no resistance no loss of fluid in MC any help would be appreciated thanks this is while truck is running | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy bigwolf, if you are sure you are not loosing fluid when you press the brake pedal, then your master cylinder is bypassing internally, and you need to rebuild/ replace the master cylinder. Now would be a good time to go through the whole system, and at minimum replace the three flex lines in the system. I would pull all the drums and check for leaks especially under the wheel cylinder end seals, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 17 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 17 | Thanks it sure does . MC is alot cheeper to replace than the vac. booster . Have the the two seperated already time to put the vac. booster back on and get a fresh MC. Thank you very much

I would like to get more gears to get better fuel milage. Truck gets about 12 now. not to shabby for orig. 68 327 2 barrel carb. and 2 sp. rearend any help is appreciated | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy bigwolf, taller tires, lower (numerically) rear axle gears, and an overdrive main transmission are some of your options. We're not talking about a small truck here, so a lot depends on what you use the truck for. Actually 12 m.p.g. on a truck of that size is pretty good mileage, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 17 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 17 | Truck will be used for hauling . I have a 28ft. tanduum axel, gooseneck trailer. Tires are 8.25x20 tube type. Any suggestions on a tranny ,would like to stay manual. thanks for your prior suggestions | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy bigwolf, in order to suggest a transmission we would need to, know the Gross Combined Weight (GCW) of your truck and trailer. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 17 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 17 | 30000 for the truck and trailer. 19000-truck, 11000-trailer top end non CDL into CDL range | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy bigwolf, that sounds like a very substantial load, so I think that would rule out something like the NV4500. The Spicer, Clark, and New Process transmissions from that period are probably up to the task, and they can be had in both direct and overdrive fifth gear models. There are also newer transmissions available, some six speeds I have heard about, you should inquire at a truck wrecker or truck transmission shop, and see if they have any recomendations, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 17 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 17 | It does, and I will .
