working on pulling my cab... trying to leave front clip on for now. i have fenders detached, pedals out etc. still have to do wires/hoses and starter linkage.
planning on pulling off with steering column in place as i understand it can be done.

question is about parking brake bracket. does it come off with the cab? just pull cotter pin to the plate that locks it on and the one lower on the linkage?
can anyone explain this for me?

someone def converted my truck to 12 v found a voltage reducer in cab wired before my gauges

oops. this is a 54 chevy its a 3800 but i don't think that part matters. i think brake is same??

The brake bracket is attached to the cab you need to remove the actuating rod. It attaches to the bottom of the Z-bar with a Clevis/pin. You need to pull the rod out as it runs through the DS cab mount. I don't think pulling it with the column in place is a good idea, you will have to get it way up in the air and back. It is only held to the frame with 4 or 5 bolts just pull it. There is also wiring underneath you will need to disconnect and I would suggest removing the shift handle (make sure trans is in neutral).

FYI, a stripped cab weighs about 300lbs.

thanks for info. i figured bracket stayed. didn't know the rod passed through the cab mount.(not much left to distinguish lol).

only reason i figured I'd leave the column is cause I'm a bit pressed for time. i know i shouldn't be but i found an extremely clean cab i want and wife says i cant take up anymore space so i have to be ready to scrap the one i have before i can buy this one and i don't wanna loose it!

i have access to a skid steer I'm planning on using for the lift so weight isn't an issue and it lifts pretty high. (and honestly there isn't much floor left. i could prob cut a slot for the steering column.

wiring is a lost cause not gonna save any of it..too ad of shape and cobbled together, who knew a truck with so few features could have so many wires!

It's quite easy to pull the front clip and get it safely out of the way. Two radiator hoses and the two bolts at the bottom of the radiator support, in addition to the fender to cab bolts you already have out.

No reason you can't leave the column in if you have a safe controllable way to lift the cab over it, I've done it before without trouble.
