Step on starter and it cranks slow, almost like battery is low. Sometimes the first time I start it and sometimes after I've driven it, stopped somewhere and gotten back in to leave. The other day stopped for gas, went to leave and tried several times to start. Thought I'd killed the battery. Called a buddy to come jump the truck and while waiting tried it one more time. Spun over with lots of power and fired right up. 6v system with 8v battery. Use battery cables of 1 gauge or fatter (0 or 00 are better - also called 1/0 or 2/0)
Using an 8v battery temporarily avoids the real problem (problems), and the 8v system might decrease the life of 6v bulbs.

Once you clean everything up, consider running the proper battery.
