FINALLY getting around to restoring her after pulling it out of a barn where she sat for 15 years. I know this site if chock full of information which I'm looking forward to! My biggest question is what do I do with my engine since I plan on replacing it? Are there original enthusiasts out there who would want a 216 6 cylinder that runs or is it just going to be a gigantic paper weight in my garage?

I don't think there is a huge demand for them myself, you likely don't even know the condition of it. You could ask around on this site, maybe advertise it in the flea market or even in the freebies section. What I did with mine was take off the accessories down to the bare block and scrapped the block.

We know the engine is tired and have records on it up until 1966 with 76K miles on it, but it does run. My husband and I are working on my truck and would love to get it out of the garage so we have more room. I'll look into listing it in the flea market or freebies. Thank you for the info!

I have my opinion same as everyone else but its YOUR truck. Once you decide on what you want there are lots of folks and good knowledge here to help you along the way.

....now my opinion. If you want to run a 6 then I'd upgrade to a 235, 261. If you want to go a little faster then there is the "350" option, or other V8. There is so many because they are plentiful, easy to work on, lots of stuff available and in the end may be even more economical. Lets us know what you decide. | | |
